Boyò Chats About Freedom With New Track, Bittersweet

August 13, 2020 by Kaneshia

Boyò (pronounced BOY-yo), is an artist with a voice capable of melting your stress and worry away. With the drop of his dreamy, new single ‘Bittersweet,’ a follow-up to the sweeping dance track ‘In My Feelings’ , Boyò’s angelic voice and mellow vibes featured on the ‘Bittersweet’ track will have you listening on repeat.

The spellbinding single appears to be retrieved from a time capsule from the early 2000’s with its melodic and simple hook over a fresh pop beat.

Through the airy cries of the chorus and the equanimous storytelling in the verses, Boyò devotes himself to the journey of finding himself, making it clear to his subject that he no longer has time to stay around to “put up with [your] shit.”

“Bittersweet is totally a breakup song for sure,” Boyò confesses. “We all get attached to people whether platonically or romantically but these attachments can sometimes be toxic because they stunt personal growth and hinder us from discovering our truest selves. There comes a defining moment in every person’s life where they’ve must decide whom they are going to live for. This record voices my resolution to that issue. Bittersweet serves as a declaration of my independence because I’m living for me and there’s no better way to commemorate that other than putting it in a song.”

For the brass-heavy pop track, Boyò teams with Lucius Page, a New-York based music producer who has worked with many talented artists, including Solange, A$AP Ferg and PnB Rock. Boyò plans to continue releasing music as he makes his transition to living in California.

“I’ve been fortunate to be able to create my art here in NYC but with the recent pandemic amongst other things, I feel the need for a change of energy. I will be driving from the east coast to relocate to LA this summer and I look forward to experiencing the freedom of the open road. This song will definitely be on my cross-country playlist.”

Keep up with Boyò’s journey on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
