Have you ever heard the saying,”Diamonds are made under pressure”? Author Eric Pullen is the perfect example. Learn more about Erica Pullen and her latest book in this Q and A.
Q. Tell me 3 Facts about yourself.
A: Fact #1: I am Blessed and Highly Favored by God and Mankind!
Fact #2: I’m determined to make a difference in the lives of my children!
Fact #3: I believe in myself!
Q: Why did you write this book?
A: I wrote this book to provide our children with a platform to know that they can believe in themselves. The book was designed for the unspoken, hurt child who felt they did not have a voice. The child that society says is not “pretty enough” even in the African American and other minority communities. We talk about racism when pertaining to black and white, however we need to talk about racism in our own culture and that alone sets this book aside from others.
Q: What are 2 things you hope people feel after they read your book?
A: I hope that my babies (all children) can overcome any obstacle they are faced with, as long as they believe in themselves! I also hope that readers of this book are encouraged and motivated to follow their dreams in life!
Q: If you could go back to the little girl you were, what would you tell her?
A: I would tell her the following life lessons:
- You’re beautiful regardless of your dark-skin.
- You can overcome any obstacles you face in life.
- Reach for the stars and follow your dreams.
- Never allow anyone to tell you, that you are not pretty, valuable, smart, etc.
- Always believe in yourself!
Q: What is your biggest fear?
A: My biggest fear is not getting my message of “Believing in Myself” to go viral! This is not about book sells or personal profit. This is about reaching precious children who are bullied and their dreams are shattered because they are not encouraged and motivated to believe in themselves despite what others (e.g. friends, classmates, even family members) say to them.
Q: What do you have planned for 2019?
A: By the grace of God, traveling the world and helping insecure little girls believe in themselves, and I will definitely have several other books published.
Q: How can we find out more about you online?
A: I have two public Facebook pages, Author Erica Pullen or Believing In Myself.
