“How To Win: Winter vs Your Skin”

By: Jackie of Raww Beauty Makeup

In the winter our skin can take a beating from the dry windy air. Once a week try a gentle exfoliator and then follow with moisturizer while the skin is still damp. Also, drink lots of water to stay hydrated.

When cleansing the skin try using creamy cleanser which won’t strip the skin as much. Also, be careful not to use the ones with alcohol as they can strip the skin leaving it drier.

Get in the habit of wearing an SPF even during the winter months. Especially if you live where it snows.

Help reduce redness from the cold and wind by using a green-tinted moisturizer for redness all over. For smaller areas, just apply a color correcting concealer to help cover up the area. Look for moisturizers that are calming to the skin and help nourish it.

Winter months can cause flaky, dry skin. Try applying a hydrating mask or rich night cream before going to bed. This will help to soften the skin overnight.

Keep your pout perfect by applying a tinted lip balm that contains sunscreen. If your lips are in pretty good shape try wearing a moisturizing lipstick. Avoid wearing matte or long-wearing formulas as they can be drying. If you do make sure you take it off when you get home and moisturize your lips before bed.

Invest in a humidifier if your heating system doesn’t have one built in. Place a smaller one in the bedroom to add extra moisture in the air. Keep it set at 30-50% during the winter months.

Don’t forget to keep your hands moisturized too. Try using a hand sanitizer without alcohol. Also, make sure you have a moisturizer with SPF. Turn down the heat when washing hands as well because hot water strips your skin of its natural oils
