Having children can be the most joyous time in your life, watching them grow and develop can make you the happiest parent on earth. During the first several years of development, you may notice that your child is missing important milestones. Be sure to mention any concerns you have when your child starts and their teacher will be able to offer the help and support they need. Take a look below for some of the reasons your child may run into difficulties at school.

Hearing

One of the things your child might be struggling with is their hearing. They don’t have to sit and focus on what people are saying at home or at nursery as most of the learning is done through play. However, when children start attending school they are expected to sit at tables and watch the screen while listening to the teacher. This can be incredibly difficult for children with hearing issues. If your child’s teacher has noticed your child finding lessons tricky then it may be time to take them to an audiologist like Chris Beckham. They will be able to perform a hearing test and tell you anything that is wrong with your child’s ears. If they do find something wrong then the issue might be rectified through the use of hearing aids.

Eyesight

Another problem your child could be having at school is poor eyesight. Unfortunately, if your child is expected to look at a computer screen or even a white board for long periods of time then this can naturally strain the eyes. If your child is regularly coming home complaining of a headache then it might be time to book an optician appointment. You never know if headaches are caused by the eyes and it is one of the first things that your doctor will ask if you go and see them about it. If they do need glasses then the eye doctor will be able to give you the best advice.

Bullying

Is your child refusing to go to school each day? There could be a very good reason behind this, they may be getting bullied. There are many children in schools that are the target for bullying, this could be due to anything. Many schools have a zero bullying policy. Be sure to speak with the school’s administration immediately if you feel your child is a victim of bullying. For children having a hard time adapting to the day to day demands of traditional school, homeschool is an option. Weigh up your options and always do what is best for your child.

We hope you found this article helpful and made you aware of a few reasons your child may be struggling in school and how you can help them. Remember, every child is different and they all learn at their own pace.
